A referendum relating to the adoption of the Olney Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 6th July 2017. The question which was asked in the Referendum was:

Do you want Milton Keynes Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Olney to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

The result of the referendum was             Yes – 991       No – 968

The key points of the plan are:

  • Written by local people and town councillors
  • Planned development as required to meet local housing target
  • 300 dwellings including 90 affordable dwellings and a local connection policy
  • Land allocated for health, social care and community purposes
  • Land allocated for employment use, and protection of existing employment sites
  • Land allocated for retail use including a food store
  • Developer contributions to improve facilities and infrastructure totalling £5.8M
